    Bishopric message

Dear Brothers and Sisters, We hope you are managing well at this challenging time. We really miss being together with our friends and neighbors of the Parley’s 3rd. When we are gathered together there is great feeling of love and unity among us all. We hope the day comes soon that we can be reunited at our amazing Parley’s 3rd Ward building.  As a result of the Governor’s Directive and the Mayor’s Order, we are not able to have members take the Sacrament into the homes of other members. Accordingly, the Stake Presidency has decided to suspend all administration of the Sacramentthroughout the Stake until April 13, when the Governor’s directive is scheduled…

Fifth Sunday Presentation – First Vision

Some time ago the Bishopric and Ward Council prayerfully considered what we might address for the 5th Sunday in March.  We had a distinct impression to learn more of and revisit the life of Joseph Smith with a focus on the First Vision he received of Heavenly Father and the Son. Sister Kathleen Barlow was invited to prepare a lesson.  In light of the recent stay at home public health guidelines, she has adapted her presentation and posted it on YouTube for us as we study, ponder and feel the power of the First Vision.  We graciously thank her, Steve, Andrew (son), Thomas Barlow (son) and his wife Rene for…

    Bishop Wallis – Message

In preparation for General Conference next Sunday, I would encourage each of you to take a few moments to ponder the miracle of The Restoration.  Brian Lloyd shared a great link with our priests last week for a BYU Devotional by Elder Gary Stevenson called “The Ongoing Restoration“.  The actual talk starts about 9 minutes into the video and presents great insight into the prophet Joseph Smith and some of the other key figures involved in bringing forth the Book of Mormon.  It is amazing to think how young the prophet and others were at that time and that with limited education and means the Lord was able to use…

    COVID19 Update – 03/28

We want to express our love and appreciation for each one of you.  These are unprecedented times and the strain of homeschooling, telecommuting and social isolation can be challenging to say the least.  We are thankful for those who are finding creative ways to reach out to others through phone calls, texting, video chats and other small acts of service.   Here are 3 items of importance for this week: 1.  Temporary suspension of sacrament services – In light of the Governor’s Directive and Mayor Mendenhall’s Order, the area presidency has indicated that we cannot have members take the Sacrament to the homes of other members. Accordingly, the Stake Presidency has decided to…

Temporary Suspension of the Sacrament in Parleys Stake

We just received word from our Area Presidency that we cannot have members take the Sacrament to the homes of other members in light of the Governor’s Directive and Mayor’s Order regarding COVID-19. Accordingly, as a Stake Presidency in prayerful counsel with the Bishops of each of our Wards, we have decided to suspend all administration of the Sacrament throughout the Stake until April 13 when the Governor’s directive is scheduled to end. In other words, the Sacrament will not be authorized in any homes in the Stake for the time being. We will reevaluate as soon as possible and as conditions permit.  We recognize the central importance of the Sacrament in our worship and remembrance…

    Parleys Stake COVID-19 Update

We love you and are praying for you. We encourage you to accept our Prophet, President Nelson’s invitation to join with him in a worldwide fast this Sunday, March 29, to pray for relief from the physical, emotional and economic effects of this global pandemic. We have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His power to consecrate our fasting and prayer to the world’s benefit.  We also provide the following updates:  We strongly encourage all of you to continue to follow local, state and national directives regarding COVID-19, including the Governor’s March 27 Directive. We are closely monitoring the status of our missionaries in the United States and abroad. Some of them…
