Bishopric message

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

We look forward to worshipping together during our sacrament meeting tomorrow at 12 pm. We are excited to hear from Shaw Chimika, who has accepted a call to serve in the Alabama Birmingham Mission.

In the book of Mosiah, the Prophet-King Benjamin sends a declaration to His people, the combined Nephites/Mulekites, to go up to the temple to hear his words. The people respond as follows::
They gathered together and went up to the temple
They were prepared to make sacrifice according to the law of Moses
They were prepared to give thanks to the Lord their God for their blessings
They were prepared to hear the word of King Benjamin
They pitched their tents with the door facing the temple, family gathered together inside (an extension of the temple walls which could not fit all the people)

In response the people received teachings, covenants, knowledge, and blessings that were incredible and individually and societally life changing.

What is our response to prophets, stake presidents, and bishops counsel to go up to the temple? Why do you think leaders counsel us to do so? How can we match our response to this modern-day call to action like the Nephite/Mulekite people did?

We invite you to study the specific blessings of temple worship taught by President Nelson in April 2024 conference. It is our desire that the Parley’s 3rd ward be a temple going people and, where possible, increase our temple worship. May we gather together and go up to the temple, even the very House of God! As we enter the temple we are pointed to Christ that through Him and temple covenants we may claim the greatest blessings of God for ourselves and our families.
