3rd Ward

Bishopric message

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We congratulate our neighborhood seniors for their graduation! Tomorrow at 1pm we will have convert baptism. Due to Covid-19 there is a limit of 20 people permitted to attend in person. We have been authorized to allow members of our ward and investigators to participate via Zoom Conference. If you desire, at the bottom of this email you can see a link and instructions for how to participate. Gabriella is from Brazil and has attended our ward a number of times in the past. She has a very strong testimony now of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, The Restoration, The Book of Mormon, and the Plan of Salvation. We are very excited for her. Two weeks ago when the sister missionaries extended the innovation to be baptized on June 7, Gabi said “I’m ready! If you told me I could get baptized tomorrow…I would be there!” We rejoice with her.

Tomorrow is also Fast Sunday. Sisters Monica Atkin, Kathy Mulcock and Bonnie Parkin have generously recorded their testimonies.

In Matthew 17:19-22, after the Savior had rebuked an evil spirit out of a child, we learn:

19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

We testify that there is real power in this doctrine. May we all, with renewed faith, invoke the power of heaven through our earnest fasting and praying. The world needs it. Each of us needs it! Thank you for your examples of discipleship!

With Love,

The Bishopric
