October General Conference Highlight: Living with real, true, and authentic JOY should be one of our main objectives in life. “We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ. We are members of the church of joy! And nowhere should our joy as a people be more apparent than when we gather together each Sabbath in our sacrament meetings to worship the source of all joy!” “Because of the loving plan of our Heavenly Father for each of His children, and because of the redeeming life and mission of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, we can—and should—be the most joyful people on earth! Even as the storms of life in an…

Dear Friends and Neighbors: The end of the book of Helaman and the first few chapters of 3 Nephi present similar situations that could easily be compared to the times we live in today or may experience in the future. Why did Mormon put those chapters in the Book of Mormon? Because Jesus Christ had shown us unto the prophet Mormon; therefore, Mormon understood what we would be up against (Mormon 8: 34-35). In this week’s reading, the theme is “Arise and Come Forth unto Me”. In chapter 9 of 3 Nephi, the voice of Christ proclaims His divinity and invites men to come unto Him and be saved. Jesus…

THIS WEEK’S SPIRITUAL MESSAGE: In this week’s reading we read where the Nephites were preparing for the Gadianton Robbers to come upon them for a great battle. When the time arrived, and they saw the appearance of the Gadianton robbers, they fell to the earth and cried to the Lord that He would spare them and deliver them out of the hand of the enemies. We have seen this time and time again in the Book of Mormon. It is our hopes that in our personal lives where we may be experiencing our own battles that we may be like the Nephites where we fall to the earth in prayer…

Dear Friends, Alma’s instructions to Helaman regarding prayer are surely among the most excellent in all of sacred text. We endorse Alma 37:36-37 for your reading. We testify that every earnest petition to God is heard of Him. We also testify that as we frequently and sincerely pray, we can grow closer to God and feel more of His love. Elder David A. Bednar stated that we ought not to pray so that we can tell God what we want, but rather we should pray to ask what God wants for us. He said that with this change in our approach, our prayers will be positively changed forever. We invite…
