Bishop’s Thought

As I listened to conference this afternoon I was impressed by my own need for a personal and family “check-up”.  Elder Tai of the Seventy spoke about a recent visit to the doctor’s office where he was asked to make some changes in his eating and exercise habits to improve his health.  He then posed a question about what kind of changes we might need to make in our own lives if we were to undergo a “spiritual examination.”

This type of personal reflection was further emphasized by Elder Stevenson’s talk at the end of the session when he discussed the closure of the Salt Lake Temple for renovation and a seismic upgrade to its foundation.  He suggested that he consider this as a time of “renewal” for the temple rather than as a closure.  It caused me to think about what areas of my personal and family life require some need of a touch-up; which areas require a small renovation; and which areas may even be in need of a seismic upgrade!

Our good stake president has spoken to us about the principle of repentance being a daily process.  As President Nelson has said, it is about allowing “the Savior to transform us into the best version of ourselves.”  It is my hope and prayer that we will open our hearts to hear the inspiration and personal revelation that our Father in Heaven desperately wants to give to us during conference this weekend.  May God give us the strength and resolve to then “Go and Do”!  As always, I am here to serve you in any way that I can.

With Love,

Bishop Wallis
