Bishopric message
Good evening Parley’s 3rd Ward,
In honor of Women’s History Month, The Gospel Living App tells the story of Abish in the Book of Mormon, a woman of faith:
Abish was a Lamanite woman who served the king and queen. She’d converted to the gospel years earlier but kept it a secret—probably because faithful people were persecuted in her community.
Then one day a Nephite missionary named Ammon showed up and taught the king and queen about the gospel. The Spirit was so strong that everyone collapsed! Abish was the only one left standing—and she knew it was time to share her testimony.
She literally ran from house to house, telling everyone what happened. She hoped they would believe in the power of God.
But the crowd that gathered was scared and confused. Some thought that because Ammon was a Nephite, he had brought an evil curse upon the kingdom.
Not the reaction Abish was hoping for!
Instead of giving up, Abish walked over to the queen—a bold move, considering the mood in the room—and woke her up. Then the queen helped the king stand up. Eventually everyone who had collapsed began to testify of God.
Many Lamanites were converted because of Abish’s courage and faith.
Read Abish’s story in Alma 19.

Welfare Assignments – We have a welfare assignment to fulfill Thursday, April 1st. If you are able to participate, please reach out to Andy Smith (801) 718-1509. We still need 4 volunteers for that day.
Our love for and observance of the Sabbath day, or the Lord’s day, is forever changed and enhanced as we come to understand and remember that every Sunday, not only Easter Sunday, is the Lord’s day, in commemoration of the fact that Christ came forth from the grave on Sunday. As we observe Easter Sunday and as we hear the words of our leaders at General Conference, may we feel an abundance of the spirit of gratitude for our Savior, Jesus Christ. And may we also receive personal revelation that draws us closer to our Heavenly Father.
We love you,
The Bishopric
