3rd Ward

Bishopric message

Good afternoon brothers and sisters,

Tomorrow in sacrament meeting we will be fortunate to hear from Emma Conde, Liz Raybould and Ben Raybould. Ben, Liz and their four children are great neighbors and valuable contributors to our ward family. We are really excited for Emma as she commences her full-time missionary service on June 9th, serving in the Georgia, Atlanta Mission.

We are grateful that all who desire to gather in-person and partake of the sacrament, are now able to do so. Sacrament meeting will continue to be broadcast for the immediate future. Click here to join the YouTube streaming.

Thanks to “Mr. Reliable”, Jordan Briggs for making our virtual sacrament meetings possible each week. Tomorrow we will be able to use all the rows in the chapel for seating. Additionally, some of the processes related to the administration of the sacrament continue to develop toward what they were previously. You may note a couple of changes tomorrow as the young men pass the sacrament.

Hooray! Our adult classes, Relief Society and Elder’s Quorum will resume meeting in-person tomorrow. Our amazing Primary will also resume meetings tomorrow (including nursery). This is a significant milestone that we have eagerly anticipated for many months. Thank you to all our leaders, instructors, and class participants for your patience and cooperation. We ask for your continued patience tomorrow as we settle into our classrooms. The Relief Society and Elder’s Quorum meetings will continue to be broadcast for at least this week. Those wishing to join virtually should receive instructions to join as typical.

Tomorrow our Young Women and Young Men will meet together during the second hour for a lesson focused on why we have moral standards and how adhering to those standards they will be happier. Specifically, we will be talking about morality, chastity and pornography. Please be assured that great care is being taken to make certain that the content of the meetings is age appropriate. The group will meet all together initially where they will be able to observe a panel consisting of some of our own Young Single Adults answering questions about how their adherence to moral standards have helped them to stay on the covenant path. Then the group will be separated into smaller groups based on age, where age sensitive discussions will continue. Later in the day tomorrow, parents of YW YM will receive an email summarizing what was discussed with their youth earlier. They will also be given links to church videos that were shown. We will encourage families to discuss these subjects together and promote a culture of open conversation, where such important topics as moral standards can be discussed in their own homes. Immediately after the administration of the sacrament concludes we will ask the YW YM and their leaders to move swiftly into the Cultural Hall. As they gather and find a seat, they will be able to enjoy some refreshments. We have a lot to cover and do anticipate the meetings may run a little long. We hope that is not a problem. If you have any concerns about your child’s participation in the discussions tomorrow, please feel free to reach out to a member of the Young Women’s Presidency or Bishopric.

The Young Men and Young women are inviting all ward members to join their Summer Book of Mormon Challenge. They started reading on May 9th and are planning to finish their reading on August 31st. If you have any questions about the challenge, please contact a member of the Young Women’s Presidency or Bishopric. We are happy to help set you up “My Plan” in the Gospel Library or bring you a book mark with the daily reading assignments. The reading assignment for today ends with 2 Nephi 4:1-3.

We are so excited to be able to invite everyone that is comfortable to gather in-person for our 2nd hour meetings tomorrow for the first time in over a year. It has been wonderful to see so many in our sacrament meetings these last few weeks.

The future is bright and we have much to be grateful for.

Love,

The Bishopric
