Bishopric message

Good afternoon Brothers and Sisters,

We hope you are able to enjoy the longer days of summer and find comfort in our cooler evenings. It is especially important in today’s circumstances to recognize and appreciate the many blessings we receive each day at the hand of our loving Heavenly Father. The beauty we see around us is truly a tender mercy amid stressful times. The benefit to our souls is great when we focus on what we do have, rather than what we don’t have. Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, said, “being grateful in our circumstances is an act of faith in God”. The more we acknowledge His hand in all that is good, we are showing the Lord that we are willing to accept both the good and bad as part of our own growth process. Early in the Book of Mormon, we see that Nephi had this perspective. After being mistreated repeatedly by his brethren while building a ship and then after having been “driven back” on the waters for days, Nephi remains grateful. “Nevertheless, I did look unto my God, and I did praise him all the day long; and I did not murmur against the Lord because of mine afflictions”(1 Nephi 18:16). As we continue to navigate our current challenges, let us be like Nephi and praise our Father in Heaven for His hand in our lives. And let us be grateful for the knowledge that a better day is in our near future.

We are blessed this Sunday to hear a message from Brother Jacob Munns. As we know and appreciate, Jacob has the unique ability to teach gospel principles through life experiences. Thank you Jacob for your example and love.

Take good care of yourselves and your loved ones. And keep your eyes out for those around you that may be in need.

Sincerely,

The Bishopric
