Bishopric message

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

We hope you are enjoying Pioneer Weekend! Tomorrow we look forward to our sacrament meeting beginning at 12 pm. To attend virtually click HERE.

I was impressed this week by the parallels between the Jews in Babylon and the Pioneers in Nauvoo. Through the prophetic leadership of Ezra and Brigham Young, respectively, the Jews and Pioneers undertook perilous journey’s through harsh lands to freely exercise their religion. While the circumstances surrounding the initiation of each journey was different, the focus of the people upon arriving in Jerusalem and the Salt Lake Valley was the same…to build a temple.

The temple was prioritized and built as the culminating expression of their religious devotion. Neither was easy to rebuild and both experienced delays due to third-party and government intervention. Ultimately the respective temples were finished and the records of the Jews and Pioneers express the joy and blessings from having a temple in their midst. Likewise, we express our testimony that the temple can bring joy and blessings into our lives. The temple can change our perspective, provide spiritual strength, and build our capacity to overcome challenges and adversity. It is our sincere desire that each of us may become closer to our Savior through focused and committed temple worship.
