Stake Presidency

Temporary Suspension of the Sacrament in Parleys Stake

We just received word from our Area Presidency that we cannot have members take the Sacrament to the homes of other members in light of the Governor’s Directive and Mayor’s Order regarding COVID-19. Accordingly, as a Stake Presidency in prayerful counsel with the Bishops of each of our Wards, we have decided to suspend all administration of the Sacrament throughout the Stake until April 13 when the Governor’s directive is scheduled to end. In other words, the Sacrament will not be authorized in any homes in the Stake for the time being. We will reevaluate as soon as possible and as conditions permit.

We recognize the central importance of the Sacrament in our worship and remembrance of our Savior and His sacrifice for us, and we do not make this decision lightly. We are reminded, however, that throughout the history of the Church there have been many occasions where the Sacrament could not be administered regularly. President Ballard recently commented about the infrequency of the Sacrament in our current situation: “That’s all right. You have made the covenant to keep the commandments, so the Lord’s Spirit will always be with you.” President Ballard also explained: “Everything is going to be just fine as we turn our hearts to our Father in Heaven and look to Him and to the Savior as the Redeemer of all mankind.”

May we all unite together this weekend in fasting and prayer. May we also review the Sacrament prayers found in Doctrine and Covenants Section 20:77-79, and reflect on the covenants we have made and on our Savior’s great atoning sacrifice. We love you brothers and sisters and we have great faith in our Savior and His power in our lives.
