Update on Resuming Meetings

Members of the Parleys Stake,

It has been nearly one month since we shared our decision with you that, except for the Parleys Single Adult Ward, we would not be setting a date to resume our ward meetings.  Instead, we promised that, together with Stake and Ward leaders, we would monitor COVID-19 information to determine when we believe it is reasonable to resume.  During that same time, we all have had an opportunity as part of Come Follow Me to study Alma’s words in which he reminds us that there is power in assembling together and gathering ourselves often to join in fasting and mighty prayer.  While we are anxious to follow that counsel and meet together again, we have received valuable insight from Stake and Ward leaders and continue to believe that it is prudent to wait a little longer before we return.  We feel this is especially reasonable in light of the increased number of positive tests the State of Utah has been experiencing during the past few weeks.  We will continue to monitor things and seek input from others.  And, as we promised before, we will do our best to let you know two weeks before meetings will begin again.

Now, let us take care of one another, especially while we continue to be apart.  Again from Alma, we learn of the importance to watch over others and to “nourish them with things pertaining to righteousness.”  May we redouble our efforts to minister to others, especially those to whom we have been assigned.  Contact them consistently to ensure their temporal, emotional, and spiritual needs are met.  If you ministering brothers minister to sisters who do not have able priesthood holders in the home to prepare and administer the sacrament, we urge you to check in often to offer help with the sacrament.  Our Heavenly Father wants desperately that all His children have an opportunity each week to renew their covenants and to remember Him who redeems us.  Don’t wait to be asked, reach out and offer.  You will be blessed as you serve those among you.

We love you and are grateful for all the sweet and wonderful things we see happening among you as you support each other during this unprecedented time. May the Lord continue to watch over our wards, our Stake, and our neighborhoods as we strive to follow Christ, our Savior.
